Bod
Hello Whacky I Can't help much Sorry. But My Girlfriend indends on bringing her mothers ashes with us. The funeral directer said they would write a covering letter for us as they have done this before. I suppose this is to do with suspicion of smuggling something, and could be less traumatic for you in case you did get pulled by customs. Good luck John
Guest Koala
I would think this happens more often than you think. In fact it's a frequently asked question here: http://bhc.britaus.net/About_the_UK/aboutukdefault.asp?id=247 I assume that the same rules will apply in bringing ashes into Australia. Hope this helps Koala
Guest Gollywobbler
Hi I agree with Essex to Aus & Koala. If aybody in Oz is bothered, it will be rhe Quarantine people. You cold try asking them (AQIS). They are here: http://www.daff.gov.au/content/output.cfm?ObjectID=3E48F86-AA1A-11A1-B6300060B0AA00014 As Koala suggests, though, I would contact the British HC in Canberra and ask them as well. I'd do the same in your shoes. I'd take the ashes with me, for sure. Best wishes Gill
Guest nico
I took a small bag of my mother's ashes over two years ago, because she'd never managed to get to Oz. I didn't breathe a word at customs and the immigration guy was so busy talking about football he just waved me through. Sorry if I broke any rules....
